Cartoon .....

I got a bit (may be a bit more than "a bit") irritated by some cartoons. It has gone beyond my tolerable level. Arrrgggg.....

It has been months our department trying to hire people due to the heavy workload that never seems to reduce throughout the years. Putting advertisement on Jobstreet and then filtering the hundreds of resume, followed by interviewing a number of people (40 may be). I got none employed...

Hm... May be people do not have internet access? (What a lousy excuse)

OK. Let's try to do it on Newspaper then.

Put the ad up again, do the normal thing of filtering, interviewing, blah blah blah , got none again ?

What's wrong? Well. I choose not to give up and adamantly set my objective to persue the hiring until I get the people I wanted.

Put up another ad on Jobstreet again 1 month ago, go through the process again ... OK. This time looks better, got a few potential candidates and felt excited about it. Called my boss, discuss about it, scratch my head to work out the offer package and everything seems so smooth...

And then, here come the cartoons. Start receiving email, phone call and some disappeared.
So sorry about it, I've accepted another offer.
I think this is not really what I like to do.
Your offer is a hundred dollar lesser than another offer.

Have no idea, why these people come for interview and then tell me this company is doing something really good and I think I would like to be part of you, and then oppss ... I think I got a better option.

I guessed the market is somehow shortage of good people right now. Therefore, when you found a good candidate, you must have the capacity to retain them. Otherwise, you will continue to work OT.

For young people, they usually seek monetary benefits. Just look at the petrol prices! Therefore, you will need to use other strategies to retain them. :)

Go to Vietnam & India!
