Bali Trip Stories

Had a lot of stories in Bali for 1 week. I will try to summarise as much as possible ;)

3 August 2005
Didn't really sleep well because of the chicken woke me up by 6 am. Took a peep from my window and saw beautiful view ... Took a few picture and sleep again.
After breakfast we decided to just take a slow walk and enjoy the kampung(village) life. We walked to a habour that provide boat for tourist to take a tour across Lake Batur. There are a lot of villages but we didn't stop by. Only stop by Truyan Village where the dead are not bury under the ground, they will leave the dead body on the ground for 6-8 months. After that, those bones will be thrown to the side. There is a tree there that I was told it's the only 1 in Bali that can prevent the body's bad smell.

On the way back, we meet some students walking back home. A truck stopped by and asked the children to get up and they just "fly" towards that direction ;)

Had Bali's local food for lunch. I love the Ayam Goreng Bambu Bali a lot.

Took a nap and then Made-The Artist offered to sent me to see the villages by motorbike.
"Oh no. Thank you. I just want to enjoy the scenery here."
Hehe .... obviously that was not my answer.
"Oh really? OK."
We went to see the Lava from the Live Volcano-Mt Batur.

At night we decided to cancel our next day's stay in Hotel Surya-Kintamani because the 2 famous places are Trunyan and Volcano ;)

4 August 2005
Program of the day:
1) Say good bye to Kintamani at the mountain top
2) Visit a plantation of coffee, cocoa, pineapple, kay mani, etc
3) Stop halfway to see Batik Blanket, Jolene bought 1 good one
4) Visit Gunung Kawi, but didn't enter the temple
5) Shopping at a public market in Ubud. Bought a pair of very very good slipper
6) Lunch in Restaurant Mai Mai(means Come-Come). Their Chicken Mai Mai is superb
7) Visit 1 Art Gallery and 1 silver smith shop. bought nothing ;)
8) Stop at a Rice Terrace at Tegallalang and saw the farmer's hard work
9) Remember "Babi Guling" strongly recommended by my friend. Told the driber Wayan about it and he tries his very best to get for us a place that sell Babi Guling ;) It's just like Malaysia's Roast Piglet, but they serve with rice
10) Go to Kuta and see if we can check in 1 day earlier(extra). Result: got slaughter to pay RM160 for a Suite Room with no towel, no shower cap, no hot drinking water, no shower gel, no floor mat, but a lot of mosquito
11) Book a cruise tour for the next day @ USD55 per person
12) Book an evening tour to Uluwatu + Kecak & Fire Dance + Seafood Dinner @ Jimbaran Bay for Sunday (7 August)
13) Book a SPA for Saturday @ USD22.50 per pax for 2 hours

5 August 2005 - Nusa Lembongan Cruise
We went sent to Benoa Habour in the morning. There are about 40 people in the boat/kayak/sailing boat ??? Everything was ver good until 30 minutes later the boat meet some "small wave" and I stop talking and close my eye to rest ;)

2 main achivements of the day:
1) Cycle for 7 KM to explore the island without any accident. Although got 2 incidents I almost bang into the coconut tree, but manage to save myself ;)
2) Snorkelling, 1st time in my life. Manage to ask the life guard to bring me around ... because I don;t know how to swim. A wonderful experience, beautiful... beautiful ...

6 August 2005 - Shopping & SPA
10am - 3pm: Went shopping at 2 main shopping centers - Matahari & Discovery Mall.
4-6pm: SPA. It's actually body massage lah ... So we book for Tuesday 9 August a real SPA with flower bath.
7pm: While walking back to the hotel, bought a local nasi campur + 2 tohu for 4000 Ruppiah (RM 1.60). Had a bowl of Bakso in the beach. It's superb.. I love eating the local food. only RM 2 for a bowl of Glass noodle + fishball soup. I will definitely take another bowl before go back.

7 August 2005 - Shopping + Uluwatu + Jimbaran
Had breakfast and went to the beach to see people surf, took some good shots (I think). Went shopping and bought something crazy ;) 2 mirros for 100,000 Ruppiah, but I never tought about bringing then back to Malaysia is a real problem. They are heavy, heavy, heavy

Reached Uluwate at 4pm. We were told that the monke here will take anything that's shinning, inclding sunglasses, neglects or even ear rings. So we kept everything in out bag/pocket. We were walking around and taking photos. Out of a sudden, someone just screamed so loudly & got everyone's attention. hahahah the monkey snatch a blue hairband and start licking. Hey, that's mine... stupid monkey.

The cliff view is awesome & the sunset is fantastic.
Watch Kecak & Fire Dance.

Had seafood in Jimbaran. Spent about RM80 and the food is not too bad.

8 August 2005 - Shopping Day
Bought some liquer (Bali Moon) to make cocktail, 12 boxes of Lemon Tea (ahhahahaha), 2 mini guitar, 2 photo albms, 2 nike T-shirts.
Oh yeah, left out something of the day... had New Zealand Ice Cream and another bowl of Bakso

9 August 2005 - Shopping + SPA + Balik Kampung
Woke up early in the morning and went shopping. Spent all the money and left only 30000 Ruppiah (RM12). Check out at noon time and went for SPA.

Highlight of the day : I fainted after the flower bath due to my empty stomach & lack of air. The therapist got a shock and do not know what to do... hahhahaha
Probably I'm the 1st person that faint in the SPA... hahhaha ...
